Lynn,

What a wonderful idea! Already having your garden planted from the year before is the best way to get started! Your list of plants made my mouth water; I'll bet that you can't wait until harvest time.

Allowing a few plants to go to seed is a brilliant idea. You can't get fresher seeds than that!

Enjoy your growing season!

What a great idea, rotating our water storage by using the old to start seeds indoors. Thanks for that! One thing we've tried to do is to plant perennial or self-seeding stuff - they just come up year after year with little labor on our part. Asparagus, strawberries, raspberries, sunchokes ("Jerusalem artichokes"), rhubarb, grapes, all sorts of herbs, horseradish, "walking" onions (and lots of other onions reseed themselves too), and of course fruit and nut trees, etc. If you leave a spinach plant or two and some lettuce to bolt, they will probably reseed themselves as well, though if there's wind when they release their seeds, they might come up in odd places in the garden in early spring. Apparently (though we've not tried it just yet) you can even grow perennial morel mushrooms. Mmmmmmmmm.
